I've worked out that on a Wednesday there's normaly a pie on the menu del dia, todays was steak, mushroom and red wine.........it wasn't half bad!!
The chicken breasts with aspargus in a cheese sauce the Mrs had was excellent.
For starters I had a salmon salad and for desert a fruits and white chocolate cream.
The views are brilliant and for 17.50 including drinks its firmly in out Top 5 luch spots.

We were there for lunch with friends last Thursday (hadn't been since October!) as John says, food and service first class. In all the years we have been here, never had a bad meal at La Cova 8)

Thanks for the tip! We must always be on the lookout for good pies!!
-
Have you an address, sounds very nice :) :)
-
It's in Campello, drive through the town, as you leave the town there is a hill, about 200 metres after the hill flattens you will see a sign on your right for the restaurant, the address is;
Pareje Illeta s/n, Campello Spain.

Thanks John we shall be trying that next week ;)

You have to ask for the menu del dia, all they will give you is the a la carte menu
One of the waiters will tell you what's on it, we have never seen a printed one

I hate that trick John, but it is standard practise. One time we asked the waiter to repeat it so many times (I was translating for visiting family) that he got fed up and write it down. "Wonderful!" I exclaimed, "we've invented something new her Señor, a menu!" ;)
-
Moments do the same.
After the last couple of menu del dias there it's unfortunately off the radar screen for a while.

Hi John. I agree La Cova is great for lunch
What are your other 4 top lunch spots?

Hi Tony, number 1 by a clear margin is a BBQ at our mates Mike and Ann, but that's by invitation only!!
In no particular order;
El Riu, twixt Guadalest and Callosa, the pork chops and chicken off the BBQ are top notch
Spiga in Alicante, always a good meal, the salads are brilliant and the best tuna I've ever had
Rebate, in the warmer weather with a few mates a fantastic way to spend an afternoon under the trees
La Vuelta Finca, only open for lunch at the moment on Sunday, lovely surroundings, great food and if you pick your day great entertainment

Another one worth trying if in the Campello area is Restaurante Mims - on the N332 just past Campello.
Really nice food with good Menu del Dia's we were there on Good Friday.
