We've just had a lovely meal in get fresh,
Garlic prawns to start, then ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection followed by banoffee pie €11.95. Sunny the waiter can't do enough for you , They have opened another restaurant called hemmingways which what I can gather is up by dunbars will go and find out for sure.

You can see both of these restaurants adverts in the local Gran Alacant magazine at www.granalacantadvertiser.com pages 5 and 28

I had the Goats cheese tart and the Philly Steak the other night, which was very nice, and a few words in Punjabi works wonders, Hanji.

Just back from GA and whilst there tried out Hemmingways. A very welcome addition to GA and saves us driving down to Get Fresh (always had a good meal there) and one we will use again in the future. Food/Service/prices all excellent.
-
We went to Hemmingway last night, and have to agree the food is very good, although service was very slow, as it took 3 hours for 3 courses.

Hi
We were also in Hemingway last night with friends. Agree it was a tad slow, but then all food is freshly cooked and I think they were overwhelmed with how busy they were on a Wednesday night in April! But the food was well worth waiting for!
-
Agreed, but we had to keep flagging the waiter down to get drinks and put in our food orders,

Five of us went to Hemmingways last night, super.
The service was great, a young lady who hailed from Moldovia looked after us, very attentive.
Our meals were very well presented and were full of flavour.
We all had the menu del dia, with a large bottle of water, two bottles of wine, three beers and three coffees the bill came to a fraction over €100, amazing value for money.
I'll admit that in the past I often criticised the restaurants in GA......not anymore, the standards are definitely on the up and you no longer have to travel out of GA to get a good meal

Yes we can thoroughly recommend both Hemingways and Get Fresh too :) Excellent to see two more quality restaurants additions to GA!

OK, Im going to be a bit controversial here - Im not the their greatest fan
I have tried both restaurants and both times there was a definite taste of spices in a Stroganoff and a steak that I know are ingredients to Currys.
I think these is a hint of "fusion" to these eateries that I sometimes leaves me questioning the flavours of the food.
Service is fine and good value - but the taste of their food is not that great (for me)

At €12.95 Rich for the menu del dia I'm well happy

Judging by "bums on seats" the most popular resto in GA at the moment is the Indian at the top of Cardiac Hill, every time we have been past, on an evening, it's been very busy.
I've heard some brilliant reviews on it

I'm with Rich on this.
As far as Dream Corner (think that's the one you mean John) I'm afraid the location really let's it down. Nice people, food's O.K., but to sit outside is like eating in the central reservation of a motorway.
Cannot get my head around why L'Espigo ( where the old Wok used to be, near Maxcoop/Unide)
Is not more popular. Run by a lovely Spanish couple, food is nice, views over to Elche are great, & benefits from NO TV!!!! Christina is lovely, & remembers you in no time. Why is it not more busy????????

John
Have eaten in their a few times
Menu of the Day is excellent
Only thing he need to change is the menu (way to big)
If your an Indian Restaurant then just sell Indian Food

Hi Ash, is that Dream Corner you are referring to?
The Mrs doesn't like Indians as much as me so I may sample a takeaway
Hope you and your ladies are all well

Tried Dream Corner for a take away last night
Fairly busy with about 30 people dining
Ash was spot on with his comment, thought I'd picked an Argos catalogue up when I looked at the menu, its massive!!
They gave me a drink on the house whilst I waited
When the meals were ready they gave me some free popadoms and dips and a free bottle of wine, nice touch
As for the meals......OK, but I won't be rushing back sorry to say, maybe we chose the wrong items, the people "eating in" we're all being very complimentary about their meals

On a slightly different note
Why do the majority of Restaurants in GA not offer a decent children's menu
As the father of 2 ten years olds I really object to there offering of either Chicken Nuggets or Fish Fingers, is it any wonder that there is a huge issue with child obesity.
I am not asking for a full menu but some variety would not go a miss

You are not wrong Ash, my children are older now but those chicken nuggets, i used to press them with a paper serviette to get some of the oil out, and that was in more than one restaurant.

What really amazes me is that when they offer you these tasty delights and you say "no thank you" they look at you in amazement
I am not looking for Michelin ** Restaurants but if I wanted nuggets I'd go to McDonalds
