Bank Charges
« on: October 28, 2024, 08:49. »
Can anyone advise us we are with Caixa bank and non residents.  We seem to be paying ridiculous charges for holding the bank account. We have queries this with the bank previously but they say it’s what it is. We have two cards to put money in and withdraw money from the machine outside as they now don’t let you hand cash into the bank. We didn’t really want two cards but they insisted we had to have a card each for which we are paying €96 a year. We also pay non residents tax €25 every 3 months which is probably not negotiable. Their bank charges are €35 every 3 months. Does anyone else use this bank and paying the same or are they somehow charging us more. Can anyone recommend a bank in GA with less bank charges.  Thank you

When I had my apartment, I banked with BBVA. If it moved they charged you. If it didn't move they pushed it and then charged you. Sadly they have you by the short and curlies.

If you have a mortgage I cannot comment, as I believe they may force you to need the account for that, however if not you could open a Wise account, I use it for all my bills and utilities, Water, electric, community charges, Santa pola bin tax ect, the only one I have not yet done is Suma. I was with Sabadell and gave me great pleasure in closing the account due to the charges for the poor service.
Most of the banks I tried to change to at the time where not interested, hence the Wise account which works well.
Hope this helps

Oh okay will look into a Wise account as no we don’t have a mortgage. All banks here seem to have low service levels. Would just like an online bank as we have in the UK really as you can spend hours messing about in the banks here. Thank you for replying
