Spotted on a 4.2a
« on: May 12, 2019, 21:24. »
We have been hearing an unusual bird song off and on for a few days now.  Husband eventually spotted the bird, with the help of binoculars, this morning and he has identified it as a Hoopoe.  Possibly a lot of them in the Clot but we have never seen one before.

I've seen them in the Clot, quite shy.
Also flying from the beach direction over to the open ground on Av. Escandinavia opposite the chemist .

When we were over in May there were Flamingos on the Clot lakes.

They are notoriously shy, but just occasionally are too busy to notice you photographing them...

These two were on the roof of my house in lower Monte y Mar a few days ago - displaying and calling to each other at 7.30 in the morning!

Yes very good picture Mark.  Husband did take a photo but he was so far away it could have been of anything!
My friend had heard them early morning time and thought it was someones telephone ringing and ringing.
Not heard them for a few days now though.

Brilliant photo. I've not seen one yet on this visit.
