Gluten free
« on: July 30, 2021, 17:47. »
Hello all
My wife is recently on a gluten free diet. (It still all new to me)
Do any supermarkets sell gluten free Items in GA ?  I know it’s very limited  in the UK shops.
Do any restaurants cater for gluten free?
Thanks in advance
Phillip

One of our friends has gluten intolerance and has always said that she finds it easier in Spain than at home to find suitable products in the supermarkets, I know myself that Mercadona is very good for them, also she is always able to find something in restaurants to suit.

Hi Phillip....the only supermarket is Mercadona who have a decent range, nothing to speak of in the other supermarkets......although to be honest the bread in Mercadona is not brilliant!! Quite a few of the restaurants do offer gluten free in particular for pasta dishes or pizzas. If you go into Gran Mundo Chinese and ask for gluten free they are very good and point out what you can choose from. Most of the restaurants have WhatsApp now so I have messaged to ask beforehand and have always had a reply.   I know La Palletta also does gluten free.  The Indian restaurants don’t tend to use gluten, so usually a good choice.   Hope that helps. X

Because of our friend's gluten intolerance problem, there is always a stock of gluten free products in the house. In addition, Mrs A bakes a lot and produces cakes and biscuits for our friend which we also get to try. I would have to say that the gluten free products are just as nice and in some cases nicer than the "normal" ones, and quite often you simply cannot tell the difference.
