Entry requirement question

I'm out in GA in January , when I saw the requirement for a pre flight test before returning to the UK I thought whooa! I checked and am flying back on a Tuesday so I can get a lateral flow test on the Monday and get the result an hour later, had we been flying on Monday I suspect we would have had trouble getting tests within the 48 hours before we fly.

We acquired some private LFTs which apparently we can use for any reason, quite simple normal diy test then place tester on data sheet, take picture then email to provider who concurs with negative result and pdfs a certificate back.
Picked up elderly parents today from BHX who’ve been in Benidorm the last month, took a pair of Randox pcrs with me, quick swab in back of the car and dropped into Dropbox at motorway services. Whilst all this adds a cost and a layer of faff this will potentially be with us for years so best get used to it.

Hi All
Previously we had found RANDOX the best we had used, ( but thats expected being a pal of Ex health Minister) but the day after the UK Prime minister upped the testing system 27th /28th Nov., Randox had NO tests available for the first day of new restriction 7am 30th Nov. flight, the limited available tests delivered to UK address was, TEST & GO!!!! I would NOT recommend this bunch to any one, my wife's test kit arrived today 6th Dec. a week after it was promised, she has carried out in accordance with the governments rules but TEST& GO certainly don,t, THEY don,t care, no phone lines only emails that they don,t respond too, but they have our £100 for 2 test booked same time!!!
We must return to UK for a family occasion late Jan 2022 next year if we are allowed to travel to UK, & must test in UK we shall book Randox or book a test at our local airport prior to leaving Airport

You have to enter a reference number on your passenger locator form.

Each private test either LFT or pcr has a unique reference number which is needed for the passenger locator form.
