Door Numbers???
« on: March 22, 2016, 23:30. »
Hi,
We are going to visit Gran Alacant in May to have a look around. We will be hiring a 3 bed town house for a week.
Anyway....I've been looking on the interweb for houses for sale and noticed that several houses have the same door number??
I've also noticed that there are numbers at the gate which don't match the numbers at the top of the steps next to the doors??
So what gives? How are the houses numbered coz its driving me nuts!

Cheers

Davy !!!

The number at the gate is just the house number in the street , the number on the house is the builders number this is the most important one .

My house is on the inside of our phase so we have house numbers starting at number 1 which is us, our block also has a number which follows the outside street numbers, we used to get drivers trying to deliver goods not for us so I added the appropriate street number below our house number, so have three numbers up when you include the plot number, quite funny as it looks like the board in a church where they put the hymn numbers up.

Thanks for the replies, but I still don't get it....lol
I understand the house number by the door, but why would there be a separate block number by the gate and if it's a block number, why are they all different. Shouldn't every house on the block have the same 'block' number?

Confused.

The number at the front of the property on the outside wall relate to the postal address. The numbers on the actual houses are the builders plot numbers and don't relate to the actual address used by the post office/utilities.
Our postal address consists of the area, I.e  calle Canarias 10, then bloque number, phase no and finally house number. All very confusing for anyone trying to find it!

The numbering is different to say the least, where I live there is a community number, then a plot number, then a house number, which are not the same. Some houses show the plot number and some the house number from the map, some show both. That's all I'm going to say in case I upset someone.

Fairly simple where we are
The name of the road
The block number, shown on the corner of each block
The house number shown on each house

We've never used builders numbers I'm pleased to say

Regards all from I'm pleased to say after two wet and grey days a sunny GA

I undestand your confusion dleafy, this has confused a lot of people for years but they are not all the same, our urb is easy to understand too same as John's urb and all you get on our flat is the house numbr. Not as bad as it was for a friend of mine who found out last year she had been using the wrong addres for the last nine years!!! She is on a corner and had always thought she was one street when in fact she is the other. I dont even try to figure it out, just go with it. 😎
