Hello all
Does anyone know where to buy a cheap cabin size carry on flight bag from? We have tried gabes. We got stung for £80 extra weight at the airport coming out but still had a extra carry on space that we did not use. ( we weighed suitcases with cheap scales ) thanks

Hi Philip, I note you have looked in Gabe Market which is interesting as that is precisely where I bought two such carry on cases last year for the job. I think they were around 10 euros each, maybe a little more, honestly cannot remember now. If Gabe cannot help you, try the other Chinese outlets or go up to the GA market tomorrow morning and try there.

Best of luck with your Gabe market case, we bought one last year only lasted 2 trips, at departure just as boarding the plane the extendable handle locked in place without time or tools to see what had occurred within mechanism the only option was to snap it off. That said we did get 2 trips as most stuff from that shop doesnt last the day. On a serious point earlier this year one of the kids bought a copy Rubiks cube off the counter at Gabes about 7 euros, within 20 minutes the tat had fallen apart, the wife attempted to put it back together and in the process cut her finger badly on a razor sharp sliver of metal which holds the item together. I noticed no CE mark on packaging so returned to Gabe with bag of bits and wife's hand with a plaster stemming blood loss. The nice english speaking chinese lady who does the till suddenly had linguistic issues and couldnt understand me, just repeating "toy is not for babies" well the wifes 50 so i struggled to see her point. She summoned the main man over, where i pointed out that the item was illegal for sale within the EU as it didnt have the appropriate CE mark and could i have my 7 euros back, he declined so i started to ring Policia Local to report the injury,at this there was a look of utter fear on there faces and the 7 euros was slammed on the counter. Result.

Totally agree that the stuff is largely complete tat and most of it I would never think of buying but where they score is in supplying very cheap options to get you out of a particular hole at the time, quite often just for the one use and if it falls apart after that it really doesn't matter, job done. Sorry to hear about your wife's experience though, some of the stuff really shouldn't be on sale as you say, electrical stuff in particular but they get away with it.

Couldn't find my iphone charger on one visit, I reckon the grandson had half inched it, against my better judgment I bought a charger and lead from Gabe, it caught fire on its second usage.

Regards all

I've looked at electrical mains sockets from this place in the past, proper good quality ones have the actual socket made of porcelain that won't catch fire if you get too much contact resistance between the plug and the socket, the ones I saw in this shop had plastic sockets, not safe.

Bought some exterior paint for the walls as much cheaper than others.  Pleased with my hard work but the  first time it rained it washed it off.  Paid for a premium brand from reputable shop and it has lasted years.  You get what you pay for!
