Masks obligatory FROM NOW
« on: July 18, 2020, 14:13. »
It has just been announced that with IMMEDIATE EFFECT masks will have to be worn in the street at ALL times - even when you can maintain social distancing.  The only exceptions are : Beaches, swimming pools and nature spaces

And on terraces of bars, restaurants etc the mask MUST be worn at all times (apart from when you are actually eating/drinking.

Also when doing sport & exercise according to n332 Facebook, apparently due to cases in 20/40 years old increasing four fold. Sounds like younger Spanish rather that the the older English.

Reading the decree it also says exempt from face masks in natural areas , anyone know exactly what that means? Is it places like the clot or in the hills by lighthouse etc?

It's not clear, obviously out in the campo would be ideal. However in the Clot and the lighthouse etc, I imagine people just need to use common sense and take a mask with them at all times and put it on if anyone else comes into view.

Gotta say its really really unpleasant  in this heat to wear them all the time. It does seem a bit nonsensical to have to wear them when you go for a walk out and there is no-one else around you.

Tending t stay around the house a lot more now, its certainly scared the hell out of any visitors that are here and bars down n Carabasí strip and Sierra Mar in particular are very much quieter than they were this time last week. The warning sign about there being a COVID infection on the Sierrra Mar Urb put paid to most people going there for a drink.

I do think the warning signs on the urbs are a bit OTT and tarnishing the whole complex for what may be one case. Why don't they go the whole way and daub black crosses on the doors of anyone infected!!

Why is everything about trying to stop the spread of this virus like knitting fog in a dark room. Wash your hands, wear your mask and keep away from each other, it really isnt that difficult. Then we can all return to normal. I just dont understand why people have to challenge everything. In my local sainsbury yesterday and i would say only 10% had a mask on, people seem to think theyre getting one over Boris by not doing what he asks. Back to GA and speaking with a bar owner who are pulling theyre hair out with people undermining the rules and jeopardising the future of they're business.

Its worth checking what type of mask you can legally wear as the goal posts have moved.

Are disposable face masks freely available to buy in GA
Just paid 40p per mask in Newcastle, what’s the price like in Spain, is it worth bringing them out or buying them when you get there

Whilst no expert on face covering/ mask types, i find the disposable paper ones become fiddly and tedious if worn long term as in more than 10 minutes, the type seen on tv which initially were black and made from a foam type material come with or without a filter and are washable and quite comfy but in hot weather  can become sweaty, these are about 2.50 each. The best ive found so far are the cotton 3 ply type which i have to say are very good, again washable and cost about £5. Saying that you could make your own quite easily if your handy with a sewing machine.

They are available in the Chinese shop (Gabe) €51st for 10. You can get a pretty big box of 50 for €37 at Brico.

I have bought the washable fabric ones over here in GA about €5 each but they are a bit more comfortable

I thought it was mandatory to wear masks in U.K. Shops now and customers should be refused entry if not wearing?
