Haven't been a smoker for over thirty years, it's bad for your health but I think it's an invasion of people's freedom to stop them smoking in cars. I'm glad that smoking is banned in bars and pubs but don't see any harm with smoking outdoors.

It could be argued, on safety grounds, that having a stick of red hot burning ash in your fingers is something of a distraction and therefore banned for these reasons.

Thinking about it there must have been a nutter in the first place that would have taken some leaves off a plant then set light to them after which they put them in their mouth and used their lungs as a chimney.
